About Kim Sargent-Wishart, PhD, SME, founder of Circulate Movement Arts and The Circulation Project:
Kim is an artist, researcher and educator with an interest in movement, awareness, embodiment, presence, humour, and the art of the everyday. She has a BA with Honors in Dance from Wesleyan University (Connecticut, USA) and a PhD in Performance Studies from Victoria University (Melbourne, Australia). She is a certified practitioner of Body-Mind Centering®and a Registered Somatic Movement Educator (ISMETA). She has taught Pilates and other forms of movement education since the early 1990s in San Francisco, and before that trained as a bodyworker in Connecticut. For over 20 years Kim has been a student of the Tibetan Buddhist tradition, mainly through Shambhala International in the Bay Area and Melbourne, and at the Vajrayana Foundation in the Santa Cruz mountains. As an artist, she is especially influenced by the practices of Miksang photography, experimental video, pedestrian dance and dance/movement improvisation.
