Upcoming workshop: the somatics of [in]sight

saturday 21 november 2015

2-5pm

@ armaturepilates studio

343a lygon st, brunswick east

$50 [$45 student/concession]

We will begin with the experiential anatomy of vision – the eye complex, optic nerve, blind spots, and the pituitary gland, sometimes called the ‘third eye’. From this anatomical basis we will explore the experience of inner vision, insight, and perception of images that arise from somatic experience. Please dress for movement and bring a notebook.

Kim Sargent-Wishart is a certified practitioner of Body-Mind Centering® and a Somatic Movement Educator with a BA (hons) in dance from Wesleyan University. She had her first anatomy for dancers class over 30 years ago and has been hooked ever since. She recently submitted a practice-based PhD in the inter-disciplines of somatics, Buddhist philosophy and creative arts practice. Along with teaching BMC and Pilates, she makes experimental dance/films, takes photographs, and writes.
